Eats With Michael’s Picks for Where to Get Tacos this Cinco de Mayo

This weekend is Cinco de Mayo, and for a lot of Americans that means an excuse to sip margaritas and chow down on some tacos. If you were not aware, Indianapolis does tacos really, really well. From the trendy to the traditional, the Indy taco scene is inundated with some truly delicious options.

Cinco de Mayo is an opportunity to celebrate the rich culture of Mexico, and the best way to do this is by enjoying those prepared in the most traditional way.  This means warm, steamy corn tortillas and toppings kept at a minimal. Cilantro and diced white onion. There is never lettuce or shredded cheese. You will likely see a rainbow of hot sauces, and there are always lime wedges.

Right now in Indy, these are my favorite taquerias of this variety and the Eats With Michael picks for your Cinco de Mayo.

Located at 1269 Oliver Ave., this place is the real deal. The asada and shrimp tacos are particularly great.

Located at 4390 N Keystone Ave., the tongue tacos are surprisingly tender and flavorful. Skip the chorizo and go for one of their more adventurous options.
